Hello doctors, Good day!
I have a question about bat related rabies in India.
I noticed two small puncture marks (similar to those in the picture attached) on my thumb about 20 days ago.... I don't know or remember how they were caused. When I did some research on the internet, some sources referred to it as a bat bite wound (which has got me deeply confused). The wound has completely healed now and I don't experience any discomfort (like redness/swelling/irritation).
But I am concerned so much about what happened. Also, I had taken 5 doses of Abhayrab last month without the RIG. Will this protect me from future rabies infections. If so, how long?
And should I worry about those puncture marks? And is bat rabies common in India? I don't think there are any bats in my room...
Am I safe? Please help me.
Thanks in advance,
Gokul A.
