ABDOMINAL HERNIA
MY HUSBAND HAS A LARGE HERNIA ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF HIS ABDOMAN, JUST BELOW HIS RIB CAGE. HE'S 75 YEARS OLD AND IT HAS GROWN OVER THE PAST 5 YEARS. IT LOOKS LIKE A SWOLLEN BANANA. ISN'T THIS HARMFUL?

Yes it is harmful. But you will have to balance risks with benefits considering his age. So expectant observation is also an option.
