Acute Hepatitis E infection
I am down with acute Hepatitis E infection for the last 3 weeks. While liver enzymes have come down drastically from extreme high levels though still above normal range, bilirubin still remains very high at 18 over the last 2 weeks. Bilirubin spiked from 2.13 to 6.23 to 18.77 currently. Attending physician says steroids can help bring it down. Are steroids safe to take in such instances, and if taken, can it have a rebound impact after few days or weeks? Of note, my PT/INR also went up, but is now normal. Please advise and help to take a decision on steroids usage.
