Adenocarcinoma of the ampulla
Hi, my father is having Adenocarcinoma of the ampulla. Doctor have given antibiotic to get the wbc count to 8k-9k. They are opting for Surgery. So would this be a laproscopic type or an open surgery. His age is 69, and we need a longterm solution considering his age. Any other options apart from operation and how much Time it takes to heal. Any precautions post operation or other treatment. Please suggest.Operation is due next week Thu or Fri.

Surgery is the best treatment... operability depends on local extent of the disease.. which can be seen with imaging and age is not d only criteria.. performance status of d patient should be assessed... share the imaging and biopsy reports..

Please share your reports for an advise... Most likely you are going on for a Whipple's procedure. Open, laparoscopic or robotic depends on your surgeons skill... Surgery is usually the first step in treatment... General fitness is much more important in decision making than age alone
