Depends on which test you go for. A PCR test will give you accurate results after 6to 8 weeks of seroconversion, as it detects the virus itself, and not the antibodies to it.
Tests which detect antibodies to the virus are dependent on the body producing the antibodies.
The body take anywhere from a few weeks, to a few months to do so. Hence, the variation.
In 96 to 98% of cases, the antibodies to the virus are produced within 90 days of exposure. Only in very rare cases, does the body take longer to produce antibodies to the virus.
The latest antibody detection tests (4th generation) have a high specificity and sensitivity, and a post 90 day negative test is regarded conclusive.
