Allergic rhinitis can cause nasal obstruction casing difficult nasal breathing and making you breath orally at times. Additionally allergic rhinitis and asthma can happen simultaneously in a person as both has an allergic cause. So if you have symptoms of chest tightness or hunger for air at rest or with minimal exertion then it's important to rule out asthma which might require you to meet a medicine/chest physician and a more aggressive management requiring oral inhalers and steroid oral sprays.
Next Steps
Try to figure out if you have asthma with allergic rhinitis or it's just allergic rhinitis. Isolated allergic rhinitis requires steroid nasal spray and/or antihistaminics drugs. But most important is to abstain from common allergen ( dust, pollen, cold. etc)
