I have anxiety and depression. I cannot concentrate on a thing for long. I forget things. I feel that something bad might happen. I might die. That freaks me out. Is feeling of dying a common symptom of depression? What can I do to lead a normal life again?

Hello, Yes these all can be symptoms of depression. Depression can affect anyone and you can overcome it completely. Depression symptoms include feeling low all the time, loss of interest in previous pleasurable activity, feeling lonely, low in energy, hopeless, helpless, worthless feeling and sometime even suicidal ideas. Few of them or all can be present at a time.

Feeling low, having crying spells, sleep and appetite disturbances, and difficulty in concentration and attention are some of the signs of Depression. Consult a Psychiatrist for a detailed assessment. It is likely with medication and counseling the symptoms will improve. If you are feeling suicidal or hopeless consult a Psychiatrist immediately.

Just like physical health examination go for mental health examination. What is the factor dominating your behaviour is it because of depressive tendencies or high level of a anxiety or some other variable is responsible for it. After evaluation go fot psychotherapy and CBT sessions. You will feel relaxed.
