Other than reasons given above, very important is proper cleaning of tongue for preventing bad breath. There are a variety of tongue cleaners available for the same. Even a soft bristled brush can also be used.

Most common reasons for bad breath are gum infections and decayed teeth apart from many others such as ENT infections, lung infections, kidney related infections, Diabetes etc. Get urself a session of professional cleaning and also get inspected for cavities. Correction of these will solve ur problem. Else the exact underlying reason need to be determined.

Bad breath has lots of reasons, which may range from intra oral to extra oral reasons. Intra oral reasons may be hard deposits on the teeth, deep pockets in the gums which act as nidus for food accumulation, and degradation of these food particles may result in bad breath. Home care measures may not be sufficient enough to clean these hard deposits and deep pockets. Extra oral causes may be some systemic conditions like diabetes, liver or gastric diseases. Best option to consult your dentist preferably a periodontist for proper diagnosis and treatment planning.

Brushing and flossing should solve the problem in most of the cases. Without examination severity of the case cannot be determined. Do you have the problem of gums bleeding or plaque buildup?
