Patients with psychiatric illnesses often lack acceptance of illness or are too paranoid to seek treatment. Caregivers of such patients should step forward and seek treatment on their behalf. Like any illnesses these wont disappear and need treatment. You cant counsel all people with psychiatric illnesses. Choices that you might be left with are admission in hospital with ward for patients with psychiatric illnesses or covert medications. Though both might somehow feel like an violation of civil rights or unnecessary to the patient, as a guardian or loved one , relative must take decision for the well being and recovery of patient. All the best!
