Your doctor( may have a DLO qualification but years of GP practice & no upgradation of clinical skills has made him incompetent to handle your condition. It is absolutely ENT problem. Use this app to meet another good ENT Surgeon to confirm BPPV and treat you with Epley's Manoeuvre and teach you Vestibular Retraining Exercises. I am out-of-station on a family outing, will be back in Bangalore on Monday morning & will be available to see you then.

Though your clinical history is not very clear I think you are suffering from BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) this is a very benign condition and needs to be diagnosed by clinical history and certain diagnostic tests. Kindly take a second opinion as medicines will not cure this Condition and you need to undergo certain maneuvers also known as particle repositioning maneuvers.
