Hi recently, I had a blood test through my organization and got the report through email. I didn't quite understand the result. It says , TEST NAME:HIGH SENSITIVITY C-REACTIVE PROTEIN (hs-CRP) TECHNOLOGY:NEPHELOMETRY VALUE:9.66 UNITS:mg/L Reference Range :- Risk of coronary Heart Disease. < 1.00 -- Low Risk 1.00 - 3.00 -- Average Risk > 3.00 -- High Risk. can you please explain the above test result and measures needs to be taken. thank you

A high level of CRP in the blood is a marker of any condition that causes inflammation, from an upper respiratory infection to cancer. High CRP levels can indicate that there is inflammation in the arteries of the heart, which can mean a higher risk for heart attack Increases in other conditions like: Acute or chronic inflammatory conditions Tissue necrosis or tissue injury Ischemia or infarction of issues Infection, inflammation Metabolic syndrome Malignant tumors especially of breast, lung and gastrointestinal tract You don't need to panic , instead visit a physician with your reports who will examine you and determine the next course of action
