Cataract in both eyes
Hi my 6 month baby  has cataracts in both eyes. Surgery was done on right side eye a month ago. Due to lockdown left side eye surgery is delaying. We contacted the hospital, they said only an emergency case is allowed. We panic for that delay, is it ok to delay. What's the suitable  age  to  place lens for my son. Help me

Suitable age for lens inside the eye is around 2 years. Good that one eye is operated already. The hospital would have details about the degree of cataract, they will let you know how much emergency it is. It would be wise to wait till coronavirus danger is reduced before going for surgery. Delay can have a small risk of amblyopia but corona virus is more dangerous. Amblyopia can potentially be treated.

A delay of even upto a month shoukd not worsen the chances of developing lazy eyes due to unoperated cataract. However please have this addressed as soon as feasible.
Next Steps
Please ensure that the operated eye is getting the required medication on time
