Hi Doc,is cataract testing for eyes covered under normal consultation charges ?
I need to book an appointment with an opthalmologist to get eyes checked for my mother and father.
They are 60+ yrs of age.
How would I know if a clinic has cataract testing machine or not ?

yes every qualified ophthalmologist will do the complete examination witin the charged fee.he/she will also tell you about the extent of cataract and it's treatment. if she can recover to a useful vision after refraction then operation is not mandatory otherwise it has to be operated.

For cataract to be tested, no need for specialized instruments.. But seeing in slitlamp what every ophthalmologist uses we can detect..
Usually while checkup in normal consultation all ophthalmologist will see for vision, whether improvement with glasses or not, cataract or any other problems are there in the eye or not..
If needed cataract sx then only we need some instruments to check for lens power and all
