Catract problem in both eyes
Hi doc, My father is having cataract in both eyes and was asked to operate a year ago .But still he hasn't operated .he is doubtful of operating as his age is 69 and has BP,sugar and cholesterol. Please help me understand is it safe for operating at this age and what are the chances of complete cure for this ?? Is his doubt of operation correct or do we not need to get scared of this ? Please also let me know how much will it cost for both eyes and for how many days we need to rest after operating and within what interval can we operate for each  eyes ???

Cataract surgery is safe at any age. I have operated patients at 100 years of age. Of course the physician must bring the BP, diabetes etc under control before surgery. The 2 eyes can be operated with 4-7 days interval of each other. Costs vary widely from surgeon to surgeon - this is not the appropriate forum to discuss charges.
