One of the commonest forms of headache affecting women is called Migraine. All headaches should preferably be evaluated by a Neuro Specialist. Sometimes headaches are symptom of a more chronic disease like Hypertension. Once dangerous diseases are ruled out, usually based on a thorough history, clinical evaluation and special tests if required patients can get significant relief in headache severity and frequency with correct medication along with diet and life style modification.
Next Steps
Meet a Neuro Specialist in your area at the earliest. Sometimes headache may be a precursor symptom for stroke in young.
Health Tips
Traditional teaching for Doctors in past and for lay public in general was to prescribe common painkillers like Paracetamol for headaches without any evaluation by a Neuro Specialist. Even your friendly neighborhood medical shop fellow is ready to dispense over the counter painkillers without any knowledge of various kinds of headache. Rarely, untreatable headaches have been shown to be due to underlying brain tumors. In this age, when CT and MRI scanning are easily available, such unrelenting headache patients deserve to undergo a scan.
