Hi, My mom is visiting me in the US and she has been complaining about a clear fluid leak through nose which has been diagnosed by ENT /Neurologist here as CSF leak. We did an MRI but that came back normal, but transferin test confimed CSF leak. She prefers to fly back to Chennai to get treated there but given her condition is it ok for her to fly or will the altitude pressure potentially worsen the condition?
Also how serious is CSF leak and does an major operation need to be performed to rectify or is it more of a minor procedure?

She can safely fly. The surgery is very safe and can be done by help if endoscope. Usually the results are very good.
Also you need to understand that constant leak can cause infection and meningitis and so needs to be treated as soon as possible. There is no need to worry
