Depression & memory loss How to get help
I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety during an eating disorder incident about ten years ago. I have not received much help as an adult (I'm almost 25), and I never feel good. I've tried counseling three times in four years, and can't get past the intake session. It's hard for me to book appointments, I always cancel. I'm suffering memory loss, bathing multiple times in hours from forgetting and putting things in odd places. How can I get help?

Hello dear, Depression, anxiety, and eating disorders should clearly mean a well planned treatment for you. However resistance to treatment also seems to have some psychological underpinnings for you, which also require assessment. Hence please visit a psychiatrist who can formulate a clear plan after assessment, and then the onus of sticking to treatment will have to be taken by you. Getting out of this resistance to treatment will obviously be an important ingredient of mental health well being for you. In my humble suggestion, one of the ways to keep yourself in treatment may be a treatment contract and advance booking and payment for sessions.. That is for you to consider... Please be well assured that a well formulated treatment including psychotherapy should be able to help you. Hope this helps you.. Best wishes for your health and future.
