Diabetes not under control .
My mother is having high sugar from past 10 years ,initially sugar control was good however from last 2 years she is taking Insulin injections as prescribed by Doctor. HB1AC was 9.5. Insulin : Lantus 250 ( 26 at 9 PM ) ( earlier mix tard injections then replace by Lantus ). Her fasting is generally 200+ is the major challenge. Please see attached prescription for more details. Please suggest diet and what else required to make sugar under control , specially fasting sugar. Also insulin intake causing weight increase. walk : 30 mins a days. weight : 72 kgs height : 5 ft age ; 59 years Todays Fasting : 158 (7.30 am ) : 2 Aug 2017

1) You need to confirm that the injection technique is proper. 2) The injection site has to correct and should be frequently changed to avoid lipohypertrophy 3) Need to check midnight sugar to ensure that she is not having Somogyi phenomenon 4) If each of above causes are ruled out, dose of insulin needs to be increased by 2 U daily until Fasting sugar is between 90 to 130
