You can always use insulin if you prefer injection. But there are several types of insulin and the best one needs to be selected based on details of your case.
If yours is type 2 DM, before going ahead with insulin or glimeperide there are several other drugs like Metformin, Gliptins, SGLT2I that can be tried. The choice of drug depends on you history and review of lab reports
