Diabetes wife overweight
Is it normal for someone to go from healthy to insulin diabetic very quickly? My wife has been overweight for 10 years and she checks her blood sugar twice a year, the doctor always said her level were “fine”. All of a sudden her A1c is 10.1 with a fasting blood sugar of 329 and she was diagnosed as type 2 diabetic and placed on insulin immediately. Is this normal?

Being overweight itself is a marker of insulin resistance, and it could always translate to develop Diabetes at any point of time monitoring of bgl values twice a year is quite insufficient , it should be mandatory to get Hba1c levels atleast once a year , with risk factors like obesiety and family history.
