Do meds really work
I'm researching about mental illnesses and their treatments coz my family has history of mental illness. The illness are very real but the treatment doesn't have very good effect. Me,my cousin sister and 3 other members have depression from many years but we are not getting alright. We have taken treatments from many places but we don't feel happy doesn't matter what. When I started researching I found that most studies show that antidepressants are just 15% better than placebo and in maximum studies just 40-50% people get better. It is also written that it becomes alright in a year on it's own. If there is an illness then there should be 2 or 3 meds but there are more than 20 antidepressants, no one know why. When they don't work they send u for therapy then rtms, ect. We did everything. Can anyone plz tell me that are these really effective treatments. We are suffering immensly.

There are too many articles on internet and they'll tell you exactly what you want to hear.  Please consider medicine and therapy.  There are many anti depressants with different mechanisms of action and different side effects, so if one doesn't work you can be tried on another. Depression is very much treatable although there are some treatment resistant cases. There are other techniques for treating depression too like rtms,  ect which work wonders too. There's other new therapies like ketamine. Kindly consult a psychiatrist and stick to the treatment,  optimum doses taken for optimum duration are a must.
