Does GCT test requires fasting?
Hello doctor im 15 weeks pregnant and have told to do GCT test(75 gms) .In my previous pregnancy i was told not to fast for the test but now when i went to a different diagnostic centre they send me back saying to come while fasting and also will be taking 3 blood samples while previously i had given only 1 sample 1 hour after taking glucose. Please tell me which is the right procedure . Thank you

You can eat and drink normally before a glucose challenge test as the test doesn't require your fasting blood sugar levels as such but the 1st test is done after consuming the sugar syrup they provide you with. They maybe doing a fasting blood sugar in their recordings due to which they sent you back but as per the GCT test you don't require to fast.
