The sugar levels are very high for young diabetic. Young diabetic patients are at a high risk of complications simply because they have to spend a long life with diabetes. The sugar control should be very tight HbA1C of less than 6.5 % Also there are over 50 types of diabetes and a young diabetic can be having any of those unusual types. A proper diagnosis is must so as to have the right treatment. Choice of drugs also has to be made based on diagnosis. You are already on Insulin so it seems you have been presumed to be type 1 DM. If you are already on Insulin your sugar levels should not be so high. There are several different insulins and the right insulin has to be chosen. The doses need to be adjusted based on sugar chart. Insulin injection technique has to be proper.
