Surgery is the only way to close the perforation in your eardrum (if it has not been caused due to trauma recently). A graft is placed and the results are good if extreme care is taken - i.e. the graft is taken up. However, in some cases, if there is a cold after surgery or infection or any factor that may result in failure of uptake of the graft - the surgery may not be successful.
Next Steps
Surgery is still advised and a perforation may be infected repeatedly and may result in complications.
