Eggs for 3 year old
Hello doctor, my 3 year old kid has been consistently in the last percentile of growth. She is active and there are no complaints. Being vegetarian we never thought about giving eggs. Someone told to give eggs for my kid's growth. Is it safe to give eggs? I don't mind giving eggs as long as it's good for her health. Does it help in growth? Are there any alternative vegetarian options ?

No,contrary to common belief, non vegetarian food has nothing to do with better growth. If vegetarian, give milk just twice a day and 3-4 meals including curd and Banana in the diet. A healthy balanced diet and plenty of physical activity are the two most important factors for good growth,AFTER genetics,e.g,Caucasian race is taller and heavier,so are punjabis and haryanavis,as compared to others. So relax,if child is physically active and mentally alert, and weight and height are increasing over a period of time, nothing to be done. Do NOT depend on supplements, plz!!
