ENT giving antibiotics unecessarily?
I went to an ENT today because I have been having problems with my ear for about 3-4 months now. My Dr. checked me out and said my eustachian tubes were blocked, and gave med advice on how to pop them along with Amox/K Clav 500-125. I asked him if he was giving my antibiotics because I had an infection and he said no I didnt and that it was to bring down inflammation. Im afraid of taking antibiotics uneccesarily after a bad experience. Is this an appropriate use for them?

You seem to be suffering from eustachian tube dysfunction which usually occurs secondary to common cold and other disorders causing nasal congestion. Usually antibiotics are not required if there is no active infection in the nose. Simple decongestant medicines with pressure equalization exercises are sufficient
Next Steps
Consult nearby ENT specialist for confirmation of diagnosis and appropriate treatment if required
