Eye Sight for kid
Hi, need some advice on the below. I recently did an eye test for my daughter who is 5 years old. She had -3 in one eye and -1 in the other. Is it because of any heredity or less weight factor (she is little lean). I have -3.75 as of now and had -2 during late school days. Is it something very serious in nature? Thank you Shyam

No it's not serious. Motivate the child to use specs regularly.

There is nothing serious. And yes, it can be hereditary, as you are also having myopia. Glasses power may increase mostly till 18 years of age, then it may get stabilized. So, don't bother as it's not under your or anybody's control. Provide balanced diet which includes vitamin A, and seasonal fruits and vegetables.
Next Steps
Regular visits to eye consultant, at least yearly.
Health Tips
Constant use of glasses. Avoid Computer or Smartphone use, if possible. Discuss prescription for low dose Atropine eye drops with your eye consultant. And Don't panic.

It is not serious or alarming. Let her wear glasses as much as possible. Let her spend more of her spare time in the sun.. sunlight exposure of at least 2 hours a day is beneficial. . A balanced diet is essential with fresh fruits and vegetables and milk. Get her eyes tested every 6 months initially .. if number increase is more than half Dioptre Ask your doctor about low dose atropine therapy.
