painful red eye is usually due to 2 most common causes in your age group
1..corneal ulcer...if it is there. .
there must be history of injury or fall of foreign body into eye
2..acute ititis.. there is pain redness watering blurry vision
in iritis steroids are indicated whereas steroids are contraindicated in corneal ulcer
