Fasting sugar reading higher
In the recent test for blood sugar it was found that my father's fasting record is 186 which was much higher than the post meal record 168
In any of the previous records this was not found...

It can happen and there are multiple reasons for it. You need to provide further details about his history and medicines that the patient is on
