Feeding time

My little one is 3months old now. 16oct2018 born with birth weight 3.09kg. by dec31st he is 5.8kgs. till now i fed him every 2hrs. Now i see that he is taking 3 hss gap between feeds sometimes. Sometimes in the nite he is having 4 to 5 hrs sleep at a stretch if not disturbed for feed. Few said after 3months age feeding should be on demand basis. Is it true. How frequently should I feed him now.
