Fever and cough
My son is 8 yrs old. Since yesterday afternoon he is having a really bad throat and in evening a fever of 101. He was feeling cold as well. I gave him ibugesic plus yesterday. But today his fever is 102. Kindly advise...

For FEVER,do sponging with lukewarm water... paracetamol u can give every 4-6hrly safely.... Give more n more liquids

Your son seems to have throat infection. For fever you can give him plain paracetamol syrup with a gap of 6 hrs. Use Ibugesic plus (combination of ibuprofen and paracetamol) only for moderate to high grade temperature (>102 deg F). Keep him well hydrated. Give him lukewarm water, clear soups, milk etc to drink. He should take sufficient rest. Betadine gargles will help.
Next Steps
Please get his throat examined by doctor once to determine if it's viral or bacterial infection. If it's bacterial, may require antibiotics.
