Dear practo user Every filling material has it's own pros and cons. Then the selection of filling material depends on the condition of the cavity, it's location on the surface of teeth, and other factors which only a dentist, on clinical examination, can give an accurate picture. In our experience, silver amalgam fillings have proved to have the longest life if properly filled compared to glass ionomer or composites. But final decision has to be taken by your dentist only.
