Gallbladder surgery query
Hi All, I recently had open gall bladder surgery and had to remove it due to gallstones. I would like to know, how long should I wait to start gymming again. I am told I cannot lift for next 6 months. Please advise.

Was it an open surgery or a laparoscopic surgery (key hole)?

Hi If you have undergone a open surgery for gall bladder removal, then it's better to follow your surgeon's advice after keeping a regular follow up with him. Observations about wound are very important. Generally we start regular gentle exercises after a month and weight lifting after a year to avoid hernia formation. Keep in touch with your surgeon.
Next Steps
keep in touch with your surgeon.
Health Tips
avoid heavy exercise which will increase abdominal pressure. brisk walking is acceptable to start after a month.

Mild excercises can be started. Excercises which involve lifting weights, or applying pressure Should be avoided. But simple brisk walk can b started and running etc can be started gradually progressing.
