Gastric issue
My baby is 23 days old ,sometimes he grunts and strains like he is trying to pass gas or poop. Is this normal? He turns red ,cries and not sleeping properly during this time. But other than this he seems normal.

Is he constipated ? Hope you are not giving power milk. Please give mothers milk breast feeding only . Hope there is no refusal to feed , baby is cheerful , passing urine normally , sleeping well . If problem persists consult again

Breast fed babies especially the ones who are both on breast and bottle feeds may have gas issues. Avoiding mixed feeds may help. If crying a lot, you may need to consult your pediatrician regarding otc medications like Colimex drops, which can be used sparingly ( 1 to 2 drops maxm of 2 times a day). If your baby is feeding well amd weeing well, I would not worry much! Hope this helps!
Next Steps
observe his feeding and weeing avoid mixed feeds, try and give him breast feeds exclusively
Health Tips
if baby is feeding well, I would be more relaxed, but in any case of reduced feeding, would take him to the Paediatrician.
