Govt intiative MR campaign
My son has received all vaccinations in a timely manner including MMR. Although the govt recommends and advices to get an extra dose I don't want to put my children through it if there is no need for it. Is there a benefit of giving an extra dose of vaccine through the initiative? Please advice.

Detail explanation for ongoing FREE MR VACCINE CAMPAIGN IN MAHARASHTRA 1 The MR vaccine is a part of the Government drive to eradicate measles and rubella. It’s a one time drive. And it aims to eradicate the disease by developing herd immunity. 2. It’s a live vaccine (uses a live strand). There should be at least a gap of 28 days between two live vaccines. Do crosscheck this against your child’s vaccination schedule. 3. The drive starts from 27th November onwards. They will allot a day and time to the school. The vaccine will be given and then one needs to be in the school for up to 45 minutes for monitoring. 4. The vaccine cannot be given to a child if he has high grade fever I.e. 104 degrees or above. And also if a child is under some immunology medication the vaccine can’t be administered. 5. The school will send a consent for to the parents which should be duly filled and returned to the school. 6. The vaccines are stored in a ILR at a temperature between 2-8 degrees. And they will get it in a cool box to the school. Each one will be a 10 dose vial. A fresh vial of vaccine for every 10 children. The parents can check all the details on the vial before they open one. 7. Parents can carry their child’s vaccination file/book along with them, which will be filled by them if one needs it. Also they will be giving certificates to each and every child who gets vaccinated. 8. The side effects of this vaccine could be mild fever and some rashes. The chances of this happening are very low. 9. The needles used for the vaccinations are auto lock ones which means once they are used they get locked automatically and can’t be used again even if someone wants to. The doctors giving the vaccination are trained and have been giving up to 100 vaccinations a day.

It is mandatory to give this vaccine to all children between 9mo to 15 years. This will help our country eradicate measles, similar to small pox, polio an maternal tetanus. This vaccine does not have any major side effects. Hence kindly get your child vaccinated and play your role in contributing to our future generations good health

It is necessary to give. Think like this, When there is pulse polio campaign, every child upto 5 yrs of age is given 2 drops of polio drop irrespective of previous immunzation recieved by the child. And because of this extensive effort, india has now achived polio free status of the country. This MR vaccine campaign is a step to remove Measles from country. Be a part of it and give your contribution by giving MR vaccine to every child from 9 mo to 15 yrs of age
