Hair dandruff
Hello! I have dandruff in my hair and I am using Ketomac shampoo (Ketoconazole 2%) twice a week for four weeks. The dandruff is not completely gone. It feels good for two days then again it starts to itch. So someone advised that I have to use the Ketomac shampoo for about 8 weeks to completely get rid of dandruff. Please advise.

You are suffering from androgenic alopecia which is also called as pattern baldness. The hairs start reducing in density at the crown (top) and also the hairline starts receeding  from the front. This is usually progressive throughout life unless treated. It is usually accompanied by severe dandruff which we call seborrhoea. The FDA approved treatment for this condition is the best. No oil or cream will magically work because the hairs are getting miniaturised  and eventually disappearing due to the hormonal effects of DHT on the hair roots. Please call me or  contact me with photos using online consult option for proper examination and treatment. Do not start treatment without consulting. I can give guidance and then you can continue treatment on your own.

Please remember that Dandruff is usually treated and managed than cured. dandruff is basically a symptom associated with increased production of dead cells from scalp super-ceded with the sebum and fungus. key to keep tha scalp is to use medicated shampoo for twice a week for the first few weeks and weekly once after the dandruff is kept in control. wash hair with mild shampoo alternative days preferably late in evenings. if you have habit of applying oil, donot do it if you are going outside. the oil will attract dirt and make the condition worse.
Health Tips
keep the scalp clean and wash atleast once in two days. leave the medicated shampoo for atleast sometime before you rinse off. donot use it like a regular shapoo. and its also better the change the medicated shampoo few months of use and replaced with a different combo. talk to your dermatologist
