Hair fall (male pattern)
Hi Docs, I am suffering from excessive hair loss (mail pattern) from past 1-1.5yrs. I consulted a dermatologist and he recommended me Imxia 5 (minoxidil 5%) to apply twice daily (1ml each). Loss is in early stages and baldness is visible only after close look. I have been using Imxia from about 1 month and i can feel tiny hair shoots on bald areas. I just want to know, do i need to use minoxidil for life time ? At what time is it safe to stop minoxidil ?

MPB is an increasing problem in today's society. The treatment typically consists of usage of oral medication (Finasteride) and topical lotion (Minoxidil ). The dosage and duration is decided by your dermatologist. You need to be patient with the treatment protocol as it takes months to see initial improvement. Certain dermatologists supplement biotin, hair serum and advice procedures like PRP therapy which may accelerate the rate of hair growth. Minoxidil is recommended for indefinite usage if there are no adverse effects. Best wishes Dr MK Agarwala
