Hair loss after surgery
Hello Doctor, my mother had surgery a few months ago in which they removed part of her pancreas because she was diagnosed with MEN1 and had a tumor there. She's been receiving but is now diabetic and recently started loosing a lot of hair. Could this be related to her most recent surgery? Is there anything that can be done to stop her loss of hair? To add a few more details, about 8 months ago, she also had one of the parathyroids removed. Thank you so much for your time.

Greetings. Yes, she's mostly experiencing telogen effluvium. Do not worry, as her healh improves, hair should grow back normally; you may support her with good nutirtious diet and help her having a pleasant mood. If symptoms worsen, you may take an opinion from the local dermatologist or send in all details of the patient with photos on private follow up messaging. Hope this helps. Warm regards, Dr Govind Suresh Mittal, Bengaluru
