Hairfall can develop gradually over years or it may happen abruptly. Also it can be temporary or permanent. Loosing 50-100 strands per day is normal but if you are loosing more than that then you should consult a doctor to find out underlying cause behind it.
Some of the most common causes are- hereditary baldness, hormonal imbalance, any scalp infection, extreme weight loss, mental or emotional stress, diet lacking in proper nutrients, some chronic disease or if you are taking medication for any other illness.
