Hello, Thanks for your query on Practo "As" per your clinical history is concerned pitting edema is not a disease at all and it is a symptom so a person with this can live more than one year,the exact pathology is important for it ,so to know the cause your Doctor may advise few investigations like this [ECG, CBC with differential, Kidney function test, RF test, and ESR] etc. So in my opinion patient 's survival depends upon his exact disease only.
