Put your trust in your treating psychiatrist. Ask them about the medications prescribed to you.  There are different anxiety disorders and a characteristic of the most of them is that they can last for a long time. However, with treatment, you can achieve good control - with both medication and therapy options possible at the same time. Discuss your repeating thoughts with your psychiatrist. If you are seeking a second opinion, you should go ahead with that option, too.
