I'm not able to sleep immediately after a go to bed no matter how hard I try to put myself on a routine. I keep getting random thoughts. When I wake up in the morning I have a heavy headed feeling. And often can't get up from the bed for a long time.

Hi. It must be tiring for you to try and still not able to get a goodnight sleep. I can suggest you a few tips keeping in mind what has worked for my clients but I would urge you to see a psychologist as it would help you get techniques tailored made for you.
1. Writing
Write away what worries you and all the random thoughts. https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/blog/brain-waves/201801/the-connection-between-writing-and-sleep%3famp
2. Have a shower
3. Read up on Mindful sleeping
4. Physical exercise
5. Avoid naps during the day time.
If your problem still persists, I would request you to see a psychologist and he or she will able to guide you better.
Hope this helps.
