My blood test recently revealed that I've an alarming homocysteine level, i.e. 52.01 micro-mole per litre of blood. My family doctor was quite surprised considering my age and has asked to refer reputed cardiologist around. While the reference range says that it should not be above 30 - neither my parents nor my siblings have homocysteine above 20 (same unit as above).
Apart from dietary supplements (increasing
Vitamin B-complex, especially folic acid) intake what other options do I have? What can I do if this is due to genetic mutation error due to MTHFR gene?
Thank you for your time!
