How to treat headache due to tension
My husband these days daily complains of headache after coming from office. He is working in Chartered Accountancy firm. The work stress there is too much. He has this headaches in too much of stress. He is not hypertensive. He is 32 years. How do I help in curing this headache due to tension?

Hello Friend, Good that you are seeking a help here. Most common reason for headaches is prolonged stressful work without relaxation. He need to adopt few stress management plan suitable to his condition. It may include few daily routine changes, dietary changes, calm  breathing excersise, relaxation techniques, self therapies etc. Sometimes lifestyle, food, others habits also influence stress and headaches. Hello, Headache can be caused due to number of reasons. Get his eyesight checked. Headache associated with vision problem is usually associated with working on screens or working under dim light. Headache associated with underlying stress is usually of mild to moderate intensity and not increased by any physical activity. If there is associated running nose, lacrimation, nausea, vomiting, intolerance to voice and light it can be cluster or migraine type. There are good medications available to take care of all types of headache.

tension headaches are very common. treatment is lifestyle changes. if his headache is migraine related he might need medications.

- Avoid eating foods with nitrates such as hot dogs, deli meats, bacon, and sausage - Avoid food such as chocolate, cheese, blue, feta, cheddar, Parmesan, Swiss cheese, alcohol especially red wine, foods that contain monosodium glutamate (MSG), a flavor enhancer foods that are very cold such as ice cream or iced drinks processed foods, pickled foods, beans, dried fruits, cultured dairy products such as buttermilk, sour cream, and yogurt - Inhaling lavender essential oil may ease migraine pain. - Apply a menthol solution to the forehead and temples has shown to give relief. - Having food items such as ginger, almonds, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, Brazil nuts, cashews, peanut butter, oatmeal, eggs and milk - Destress with practices such as yoga, meditation - Sleep properly with a minimum of 8 hours of sleep at night. - When attacks of migraine come sitting in a dark silent room has shown to give relief. If the condition persists or worsens visit the nearest ER.
