Hyperpigmentation
I had vitiligo from the age of 14.But it wasn't controlled after years of medication and it spreaded almost in my whole body. Now my skin colour is white ,by which I was fine because of the symmetry .I haven't taken any medication for vitiligo since 5 yrs. Although certain parts are still as it is .But it was manageable. I came to Europe 6 months back and I started getting the hyperpigmentation over my face near the eyes and over my hands I visited few doctors here .They recommend Ed to go for laser because there is no medication for this. I am just scared whether it's the normal hyperpigmentation black spots or its the vitiligo that is coming back again. I am currently in delima whether to go for laser or not.coz it may come again anytime.

Thanks for the query. This could be related to a skin disease called Vitiligo. It is easily diagnosed by a dermatologist and if needed a blue light (Wood's lamp) examination is used to understand it better. Kindly consult a skin specialist. Other skin conditions and close mimickers can rarely confuse a diagnosis of Vitiligo. Vitiligo has excellent treatment options and can be cured provided the patient sticks to the recommendations. There are basically 2 components of therapy – First is to stop the spread of the disease and second is to refill colour. There are different ways of doing that and it differs from patient to patient. Vitiligo is associated with other auto-immune diseases and a screening for them is advisable.
