Hypertension
My bp always fluctuates between 135 to 150 systolic and 80-90 diastolic. All tests are normal . I am on very low sodium diet and do 30 mins mild cardio exercise daily. I suffer from chronic stress and generalised anxiety. After taking anti depressants like alprazolam,my bp comes in normal range. But I have herd that these have terrible withdrawal effects and must be taken life long. as the body gets accustomed the dosage must be steadily increased to get get desired results. Really confused what to do.pls help

Hello there.  I can understand your concern.  Its not like you have to take alprazolam for life long. There are other alternatives as well. Also, if your blood pressure is consistently high, the you will require a antihypertensive medication which will need to be taken daily for life long. Consult a psychiatrist and a MD consultant physician in person for further evaluation and management. Best regards. Dr. Anil kumar jain. Bangalore.
