Hyponatremia
Few weeks ago, my mother got hospitalised. It was discovered that her sodium level was too low. she got discharged and now recovering. She now sometimes talk things which doesn't make any sense. L learnt that low sodium level will have impact on the brain. Confusions and disorientation can result. Ok please confirm is it right? Also suggest what kind of doctor we see, neurologist or psychiatrist or an other kind of doctors. Please help

Hyponatremia can cause confusion and altered sensorium and needs to be gradually corrected. Even after correction, an individual's sensorium may take a longer time to recover especially in old age and hence it is prudent to be patient. But she will need to be evaluated in detail to find the cause for hyponatremia. Get a detailed neurological evaluation. Best regards.
