I have a damaged nail
My left thumb got squeezed around 12 years back. Since then the nail has never grown to be normal. Rather it almost never grew. I had a surgery done 3 years back and the doctor removed it from the root. Now it has grown back but looks absolutely horrible. I know it's difficult to tell without observation but is it possible to get a normal nail back?

Some times your nail bed from which the nail grows might have been destroyed. If that is the case it is very difficult to get back the normal nail. If your nail bed is intact then you can get back your normal nail
Next Steps
Please do consult a dermatologist and exclude the possibility of a fungal infection of the nail. That can also lead to the damaged look.
Health Tips
If it is a fungal infection it can be completely treated and you can get back your normal nails. But you need to religiously follow the treatment for a few months
