it can be a case of minor Grade I ligament pull or can be a case of meniscal injury or severe Grade/moderate ligamentous sprain. ....Do the ice packs twice a a day for 3 days +apply some pain killer gel and take rest. don't overexert, use crepe bandage and keep the limb elevated......if no relief , go to a physiotherapist and get the treatment done(US+Wax therapy+TENS+EXs). You will get the relief for sure.......Otherwise MRI may be required.

Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the knee against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

Check urself whether u can bend knee compleyely or not. Secondly the knee swelling after twisting knee and ankle could be bcoz of torn internal structures of knee. Apply ice and take pain meds and rest.if swelling doesnt go down and ur not able to bend knee...u dhould visit orthopedic surgeon for the clinical assessment for ligament or meniscus injury. U might need MRI after orthopod consultation. Thanks
