Impacted tooth extraction
I got a disimpaction done for my 38 yesterday. The doctor has prescribed ketorol dt twice a day for 3 days. But the pain is really bad and the swelling is big. Can I take any other painkiller to ease the pain?

Lower wisdom teeth removal is one of the most complicated extractions in dentistry, mainly because of the density and angulation of the bone in that area which delays the healing. Mild to moderate post operative discomfort can be expected in the first few days after the extraction. You can take ketorol DT up to 3 times in a day if required. But most important thing is to stick to the instructions given to you to be followed after the extraction procedure. Have patience and give it some time... it will all be ok... Regards.

It will take some time for the pain to subside. Consult your surgeon if there is unbearable pain so that he/she can rule out any infections if any

Greetings, Pain post operatively is common. The medication for pain you are taking should be sufficient. Changes and further advice  is  best done only after examination. I advise you to meet your Specialist  and then make a change if advised. Follow  their instructions. There are a lot of things to take into consideration  as far as medications are also concerned. Iam sure your Specialist  will be happy to help you. Please donot  make changes unless you meet a Specialist in person. Regards, Dr. Manmeet Singh Maxillofacial Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgeon & Cosmetologist Bangalore
